*~|| Happy : ) Holi ||~*

I love playing Holi. And all us friends in the colony had decided to have a blast this time. It was never more fun. Well I started the traditional way... wishing the elders first and then after that......

[Part I] It all started on the terrace. My cousins (Dikshita and Garima), my brother (Paranjay)and his friends and of course me, went upstairs to start celebrating. One after the other I was hit by balloons. And it wasn't to stop there. They all caught me and made me sit. And there I was drenched with a bucket full of water. I was about to get up, thinking it was over. But no! I had an entire packet of colour all over me. I thought over finally. And I got up. And there was Gonu running behind me with a Spray. Then obviously I had spray all over me. And then another bucket of water over me. More colours! More Water! More balloons! It was fun!

[Now part II.] After we were through playing at home we were to meet all our other friends in a park nearby. There I was greeted with silver and golden and green and red and yellow and god knows what all. Some colour went in my eyes. And then came Mahima. Some colour went into her eyes too. And in Ustat’s. And Sargam to save herself, ran into Mahima’s house (right opposite the park). All of us followed. Washed our eyes and came back. Sunny and Karan got eggs (eeewwh). And all of us were running and the two of them running behind us.And there I had an egg broken right over my head and spread nicely all over my hair.
Then we went to Naina’s place. Mannat was standing outside (she lives in the next house). She wasn’t going to play Holi. How could that be ! ? ! We pulled her outside, and within seconds she looked just like us! And then it was Veni’s turn.
After that we were all outside Bakshi’s house. Manu, Sunny, Bakshi and Karan had silver grease in their hands. God! They finished the entire tube on Mannat. And all of us were laughing– Mannat giving us company. And then it was my turn. Once again I was running. But of course they caught me. And I had Purple colour (pakka wala) more in my mouth and eyes and in my hair than on my face. But still I had enough on my face for it to look nothing but purple.

[Part III begins] After all this, all of us decided to take a walk around. And we reached Kanika’s house. Kanika doesn’t really play Holi. And Soumya was there at her place. So I thought why not put, if nothing else, some gulaal(herbal colour) on them. And they came outside. And I very decently put a little bit of gulaal on Kanika and Soumya. And then Mahima followed me in and so did every one else. Mahima broke an egg over Kanika’s head. Her house was getting dirty. We all went outside (Soumya didn’t come – she hated the eggs). Kanika had SIX EGGS hit on her head today (Boy, her hair must be shining now!). But she was no less. So instead of a balloon fight, we had an egg fight there!!!

[Part IV] And then we decided to take a last round and go back home. On this last (but not the least) round - there was more colour, more eggs, more water. Aarja and Sanchan (Mannat’s and Ustat’s really small and really cute cousins) also joined us. At first hen they saw us, they were actually scared. But they got over the shock.
Poor Ustat, Mahima and I. We were already coloured so badly and there was more colour, that too silver grease, smeared all over our faces. We looked like witches with our silver faces and purple teeth. (My braces also got coloured , my dentist will be really angry!).
And then Finally so so sooooooo tired after all the running and playing (we played for 4-5 hours) we decided to go back home (Gosh! Sunny and Mahima were still not over yet, running behind each other with whatever was left of the colours)

[Part V] Now I was right in front of my house. Mala di was surprised to see me (though she looked strikingly similar). I was so tired, I could barely walk. But it wasn’t over yet. Rishi bhaiya had an entire tanker of water parked in front of the house. The tap on, I was dragged right in front of it. And there I was. Drenched completely once again. I was actually shivering! But then… It was holi! And it was fun!

[Part VI] I know this is getting too long - But it isn’t over yet.
I reached home. And I had to clean myself . Someone had told me if you put mustard oil, colour comes off easily. So I took loads of it and put it over my face. And then… Aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh….
My face burnt so badly… and I screamed for Ice…. I put it… It got a bit better… I put toothpaste… It got worse….So I again put more ice….And I was shivering all the more.
I spent 2 hours, trying in vain, to clean my self. Even after all the shampooing and scrubbing, my hands and nails are still blue, my face a bit purple, one of my legs blue and the other one purple and my ears a bit reddish!
But still, it was great and sooooo much fun. I had a ball of a time.
Gosh! Today was colourful.

Chao for now!

Rachita
